Discover some of South Africa's last wilderness areas with Out in Africa's all-inclusive horseback safaris. A significant distance is covered on a daily basis through the African bush, where you will get to explore different habitats and encounter a wide array of animals along the way.
Safaris take place on a quiet and peaceful reserve in South Africa, surrounded by private game farms and rural villages. The land is open to Kruger National Park, where the Letaba River attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, and other big game. You can also extend your stay with a trip to the untouched beaches of Mozambique.
These areas are owned or about to be owned by rural African communities as part of a conservation act that makes African communities shared stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to spend a day in a village where you can get to know the local way of life and have a full African experience.
The Great Kruger Ride is a 6-day safari through Kruger National Park. Out in Africa will set up “fly camps” in remote areas of the reserve before your arrival. You will experience an adrenaline packed horseback safari up close to Africa’s animals and in tune with the untouched surrounding without compromising on comfort along the way.

All guides are FGASA qualified field guides with extensive experience in guiding on horseback in addition to theoretical and practical training. They will guide you safely through the natural environment, and accompany you throughout your stay.
Guides are charismatic and personable, which makes the trip a fantastic group experience—people come as guests and leave as friends. With a maximum capacity of 6 pax on a ride, expect your experience to be very personalized and adapted to your needs and desires.
Horses are predominantly Boerperd crosses, a home-grown breed that is well adapted to South African conditions. Riding is done in English tack. Please note that you will be riding in areas with big game, so you will need to be comfortable enough in the saddle to react quickly and ride at all paces if told to do so.
Bush and Beach Safari: add a 6 day extension to your trip with a private camping safari from Kruger National Park to Mozambique. Start your trip with a drive through the Kruger National Park and view big game from the comfort of the vehicle. The route will take you across the border post into Mozambique, where you will spend one night at a partnering camp in the Nature Preserve. A guide will take you on your last bush walk before continuing on to the Mozambique coast. You will have a few days to relax on the untouched beaches of Mozambique at a beautiful camp where it seems time has stood still—it's a great finish to an adventure-packed trip.
Out in Africa offer all-inclusive safaris. A driver will pick you up at the airport. Nights are spent in different locations in the bush, under canvas. When you're not on the trail, expect to enjoy delicious lunches, brunches, high tea, and candle lit dinners. The Out in Africa team will surprise you with a new highlight every day. You'll also have time to take in the exotic scenery, relax in hammocks, and share stories around the fire.
Out in Africa is looking for volunteers to work with the safari team. Since you will be trail riding with guests, you'll need to have a high standard of riding, ride regularly, and feel comfortable on new horses. Responsibilities include general horse care (e.g. tacking up and lunging) as well as assistance with the logistics, hospitality, and care for camp during safaris. You'll stay in pop up tents while on safari. Between safaris, you'll get to stay at a lodge with a private room/bathroom, plunge pool, and common area.
