Let's Saddle Up is a family-oriented riding program that caters to Special Needs Children, Senior Adults, and Veterans. Their horses are safe and gentle, providing a fun and encouraging riding environment for everyone. It's amazing how a little time with a horse can transform us all.
Let's Saddle Up is non-profit therapeutic riding and equine-assisted therapy center. It strives to enhance the lives of children and adults with physical, mental, social, and emotional disabilities through the Therapeutic Horsemanship, Veteran's, and Silver Stirrups programs.
Veterans, senior adults, and people with special needs (of all ages).
5 programs are offered to the public. The first program is Therapeutic Horsemanship for special needs persons. The Veterans program is called LSU Eagles. The most popular program is Silver Stirrups, which for people who are over the age of 50. The newest program is Therapeutic Driving using a miniature horse, Blueberry Muffin. Last but not least is the Therapy program with the miniature horse Tater Tot. He visits, nursing homes, schools, assisted living centers, and churches.
Sharron Dillard RN is the instructor. She is Certified for Therapeutic Riding through Path Intl and Equine Assisted Therapies from Greg Kersten's OK Corral. Sharron Dillard is also a SC 4H Horse Club leader for Trot 2, the Top 4H Club.
Volunteer: The main volunteer activities are assisting riders and keeping everyone safe. You don't have to have horse experience; Let's Saddle Up will train you. Minimum age is 14. For continuity, it helps both you and the rider if you commit to one lesson a week.
Rider Scholarships: Some people don't have the financial resources to pay for lessons. If they don't qualify for county or state funds, your donation would make it possible for them to receive therapy. You can choose the rider or just put it in the general scholarship fund (SC 510c-3 donation).
Horse Sponsorships: Let's Saddle Up has 8 horses that are used for therapeutic riding or therapy. Your donation would help supplement the cost of keeping them healthy and fit.
