CT • Cheshire Horse Council

The Cheshire Horse Council offers outreach programs that promote communication between horse and human. The Council focuses on the natural instincts of the horse and the healing effects horses offer us, both mentally and physically.

Mission

The Cheshire Horse Council of Cheshire, CT is the local liaison for horse owners and enthusiasts who must meet town and state regulations regarding horse ownership. We support the “Share the Trails” concept by helping to maintain Cheshire trails that can be used by horses, hikers, bikers and others. We share our collective knowledge and love of horses among our members and the general public, with special emphasis on teaching our youth.

Location

Cheshire, Connecticut

Activities

Trail riding (Western and English), trail maintenance, parade riding, equine health clinics, cookouts, dances, equine games and fundraisers. Community service projects include visitations to rehab and convalescent facilities. Special visits with “pony” rides have raised needed funds for local hospices and food pantries.

Membership

Anyone can become a member. You don’t have to own or lease a horse. Bring your writing, accounting, marketing, legal, public service or trailer-driving skills. Non-mounted volunteers are much appreciated for their help.
